NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE

Rachel’s licensure

I am licensed as a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) in the province of Ontario, Canada. All office hours are listed in Eastern Standard Times.

Video Conferencing

I offer Telehealth services to allow for Ontario residents to receive naturopathic healthcare. The treatment pathway is the same as if you were coming in person, i.e. first visit, second visit, follow-up visit. See descriptions below.

20-minute Meet and greet

This is an option should you wish to meet me before committing to working with me. During the 20-minute Meet and Greet, we’ll discuss my approach, as well as the reason(s) that brought you through my office door. This consultation is an opportunity for us to determine if we are a good fit.

before the initial visit

Prior to your initial visit, I ask that you download and fill out the Intake Form found here. If you have trouble accessing the form, you may request a copy to be sent to you via email. Please send this in 24 hours prior to your initial visit. It is also helpful to bring in a copy of any recent blood work or imaging tests you’ve had done in the last 12 months.

initial visit (90 minutes)

Consider the initial visit to be where we learn about each other, set goals, and begin to form a treatment plan. Here we will build a fulsome picture of your health and cover: your medical history, family history, emotional patterns, larger spiritual concerns, sleep, diet, digestion, stress and many other aspects of your life. Blood work may be ordered after this visit if necessary. Please know that I do not offer treatment or long-term treatment plans after this appointment.

second visit (60 minutes)

Your second visit is generally scheduled two to four weeks after your initial and includes physical exams and any questions that came up from the first visit. After this, we’ll co-create a treatment plan, which may include supplements, herbs, acupuncture, diet and lifestyle modifications, and any appropriate referrals.

follow-up visits (15-60 minutes)

Follow-up visits are scheduled based on your individual needs, the severity of the condition and the modalities used. For acute conditions, visits may occur once a week until resolution, while those looking to maintain their health may come in once a season for a follow-up appointment. Follow-up’s are 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes in length.

phone consultations

Phone consultations may be available for returning patients. These are offered for follow-up visits visits that do not require a physical exam. Fees are time-dependent and are the same as in-office visits.

Acupuncture visits (30-90 minutes)

Your treatment may include acupuncture visits to support your health through the lens of Chinese Medicine. Depending on your needs, this may be the bulk of your visits, or be incorporated into your naturopathic visits with additional treatment.

DOULA CARE

Rachel’s Training

I am trained through Doula Training Canada’s (DTC) 14-Week Holistic Doula Program as a labour and delivery doula, postpartum doula, and have also undergone grief and bereavement training.

COMPLIMENTARY MEET + GREET

This is a no-cost (read: free) 20-minute meet and greet for us to meet and discuss how a doula could support you along your journey and whether I’m the right one for you. During this time you can tell me about how you envision your pregnancy support, learn more about doula care and understand how I practice.

PREGNANCY + BIRTH

If you choose to work with me as your birth doula, I will be available for ongoing support throughout your pregnancy. We will meet for two prenatal visits at your home, in my office, or through a video call (whichever is easiest) to talk about your birth preferences, your birth team, how you want to be supported, and creation of a postpartum plan.

From 38 weeks gestation until your babe is born, I’m on call for your birth, whether it happens in the hospital or at home. I arrive as you need me in early labour, and support you throughout your birth until you are ready for alone time with your people. Following your birth, I offer two home visits within the first 40 days. If you would like additional support during your postpartum period, you can also have additional postpartum care.

POSTPARTUM CARE

Nourishing the parents during this tender and vulnerable time is as important as nourishing the newborns. Everyone in the new family could use a little extra care, attention and love, but it can be hard for the single-family unit to cope with the newness and tend to themselves. You don’t have to do it alone and this is where postpartum doulas can support.

Postpartum care can include: caring for your newborn while you rest, caring for your other children with you rest, preparing meals for your family, support you with newborn care (ie. bathing, feeding, changing), drawing an herbal sitz bath for perineal recovery, emotional support as you process your birth

It takes a community.

NATUROPATHIC CARE

If you would like to weave in naturopathic care, including pelvic exams, prescription of supplements and herbal medicine, acupuncture, evaluation of labwork, homeopathy, etc. this will fall under naturopathic care and will be billed as such.

BIRTH + POSTPARTUM PLANNING

This is an option if you don’t need the hands-on care of a doula, but want support on navigating birth and postpartum. We talk about your options, your rights, how you want to make decisions during labour, pain management, as well as preparing a postpartum adjustment plan.
